Statement of Faith
Learn. Live. Love. is written from a confessional Lutheran perspective, rooted in Holy Scripture and shaped by the Lutheran Confessions.
Scripture
We believe that Holy Scripture is the inspired Word of God and the only source and norm for Christian faith and life. The resources on this site are intended to lead readers back to the Word of God, where Christ is revealed, faith is created and strengthened, and the Church is formed.
Christ
At the center of Scripture is Jesus Christ, crucified and risen for sinners. The Christian faith is not first about our striving toward God, but about God’s gracious work for us in Christ. Jesus’ death and resurrection are the foundation of forgiveness, life, salvation, and Christian hope.
Law & Gospel
We believe God’s Word speaks both Law and Gospel. The Law reveals sin, exposes false trust, and shows our need for Christ. The Gospel proclaims the forgiveness of sins freely given through Jesus Christ. Faithful Christian teaching must distinguish these clearly so that sinners are not left in despair or directed back to themselves, but comforted with Christ.
Word & Sacrament
We believe God gives His gifts through the means of grace: His preached and written Word, Holy Baptism, Holy Absolution, and the Lord’s Supper. Christian growth is not detached from these gifts, but continually nourished by them.
The Church Year
Learn. Live. Love. uses the rhythm of the Church Year as a helpful way to dwell in the life, death, resurrection, ascension, and promised return of Christ. The Church Year is not a law imposed on Christians, but a gift that helps the Church hear and confess the saving work of Jesus throughout the year.
The aim of these resources is that Christ would be clearly proclaimed, sinners comforted with the Gospel, and Christians strengthened to live by faith and love the neighbor.
